Choosing the right size built in braai depends on your entertainment area and how many people you regularly host:

• 800mm - compact option for small patios and courtyard braai areas. Suits 2–5 people comfortably.
• 1000mm (1m) - Fits a standard brick surround and handles family braais of 5–8 people with ease.
• 1200mm - the most popular built in braai size in South Africa. Extra width for larger gatherings. A practical choice if your braai area can accommodate it.
• 1500mm - our largest built in braai. Designed for serious entertainers with larger entertainment spaces.

Built-in Braai Material Options

Every built in braai in our range is available in at least one of three material grades. The right choice depends on your location and how exposed the braai will be to the elements:

• Mild steel - the most affordable option, ideal for fully enclosed or indoor braai areas, particularly inland. Browse our standard braai range for mild steel options.

Types of Built-in Braais

Our built in braai range covers every cooking style:

• Standard - classic wood-fired braai available in mild steel, 430, 304 and 316 stainless steel. The widest size and material choice in the range.
• Deluxe - enhanced features including adjustable grid hook height settings. Available in mild steel, with 304 stainless on special order.
• Professional - heavy-duty construction for frequent use. Available in mild steel, with 304 stainless on special order.
• Double Sided - dual-access design for island-style braai areas. Available in mild steel.
• Combination (gas & wood) - gas burner on one side, wood-fire grill on the other. Ideal if you want the convenience of gas with the flavour of wood.
• Spit Braais - rotisserie-style grilling for a whole lamb and other larger cuts.
• Freestanding Braais - no-brick units that do not require a brick surround.

What Is a Built-in Braai?

A built-in braai is permanently installed into a brick or concrete surround, unlike a freestanding braai which do not require a bricked installation. Built-in units suit homeowners renovating an existing braai area, building a new entertainment space from scratch, or working with a builder on a new-build. What is the difference between a built-in and a freestanding braai?
A built-in braai is fitted permanently into a brick or concrete surround and cannot easily be moved once installed, while a freestanding braai stands on its own base and the flue simply exits through the roof making relocation easier if needed. Built-in units suit a dedicated entertainment area; freestanding units suit smaller spaces (no brickwork needed) or is ideal for tenants who may need to take it with them.
What size built-in braai do I need?
Built-in braais range from 800mm up to 1500mm wide, and the right size depends on how many people you usually cook for. An 800mm unit suits a family of four to six on a smaller patio. A 1000mm braai comfortably serves six to ten people. The 1200mm size is our most popular choice and handles gatherings of ten to fifteen guests. Units of 1500mm suit large entertainment areas and regular hosting of fifteen or more. The Standard range covers all of these sizes and is available in mild steel, 430 stainless steel, 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel, so you can match size and material to your location. Before ordering, measure the opening in your wall or surround and check the required clearances to combustible materials in our installation guidelines. Which steel grade should I choose?
It depends on your location and how exposed the braai will be. As a general rule, mild steel suits indoor use, 304 stainless steel suits most South African climates, and 316 marine-grade stainless is recommended within roughly 5km of the coast. Note: our Deluxe, Professional, Spit and Double-Sided ranges are offered in mild steel (with 304 stainless available on some models by special order) rather than 316 stainless — if you need 316-level coastal protection, our Standard range offers this. Do you deliver built-in braais nationwide?
Yes. We deliver built-in braai units to all nine provinces in South Africa, with free delivery on qualifying units to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Bloemfontein. For other areas, delivery is quoted individually based on your address and the units ordered, so please ask us for a quote before you place your order. Units travel with reputable courier services experienced in handling heavy, bulky goods. Someone must be present on delivery day to receive the braai and inspect it. Check the unit and packaging carefully before you sign. If you see any transit damage, note it on the delivery documentation before signing and tell us straight away so we can resolve it. What is the difference between Standard, Deluxe and Professional built-in braais?
The Standard is our entry-level built-in braai with a 2.5mm mild steel body or 2mm Stainless steel, available in the widest range of sizes and materials (mild steel, 430, 304 and 316 stainless steel). It includes braai grid/s, ember maker, ash pan, potjie hook, light fitting. The Deluxe is a mid-range option with a thicker 3mm mild steel body, adjustable braai grids, reinforced ember maker and double doors with chains for better heat control — flue and cowl sold separately. The Professional is our premium option, also 3mm mild steel, with a retractable single door, two adjustable stainless steel grids, reinforced ember maker and scraper tool — flue and cowl sold separately. The Deluxe and Professional carry a 20-year warranty; the Standard carries a 5-year warranty.
What guarantee or warranty do your built-in braais carry?
Our built-in braai warranties follow the steel thickness of each range. Deluxe and Professional built-in braais are made from 3mm mild steel and carry a 20-year limited warranty. Standard built-in braais use 2.5mm mild steel and carry a 5-year limited warranty. Stainless steel built-in braais, made from 2mm stainless steel, also carry a 5-year limited warranty. Spit braais carry a 20-year limited warranty. These tiers reflect the build quality of each range. All warranties cover manufacturing defects under normal residential use. They do not cover misuse, or exposure beyond the environment the product was designed for, for example a mild steel Standard unit installed in a coastal area where 316 stainless steel is recommended. Do you offer installation?
We are on the supply and distribution side only and are not involved in the installation of our products. All built-in braais require professional installation into a permanent brick structure. What is the thickness of steel used on your braais?
Professional and Deluxe mild steel built-in braais: 3mm. Standard mild steel built-in braais: 2.5mm. Stainless steel built-in braais (430, 304 and 316): 2mm.
How much flue pipe do I need above the roof?
The flue must extend a minimum of 650mm above the apex (highest point) of the roof to ensure proper draw and cowl performance. Your installer may need to exceed this where site conditions require it. This is a draught guideline — separate fire-safety clearances also apply.
What is the most popular built-in braai size?
The 1200mm (1.2m) is our most popular built-in braai size. It offers extra width for larger gatherings without requiring an oversized braai area. The 1200mm is available in mild steel, 430, 304 and 316 stainless steel across the Standard range.
